Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Paks Pack an Impressive Punch at Pomona

A duo of Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Paks posted encouraging outings at the 50th Annual Kragen O’Reilly NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, Calif. Irvin Johns qualified No. 1 in the Stock Eliminator class while NHRA Pro Stock star Jeg Coughlin, doing double duty, claimed the No. 6 spot.

Johns, of Charlestown, Ind., recorded an ET of 9.918 in his Hoosier HEMI Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, owned by himself and his wife, Gina, to claim the pole. Coughlin clocked a 10.046 pass in his Mopar Drag Pak to slot himself sixth in the class. Both drivers exited early in the elimination rounds but remained buoyed by their Winternationals weekend.

"I qualified No. 1 at the 50th Annual NHRA Winternationals at Pomona," said an amazed-sounding Johns, who also claimed the No. 1 spot in qualifying at the 2009 JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals in Columbus, Ohio. "It was fantastic. It’s what I came here to do."

Coughlin and Johns plan to run a heavy slate of events in their respective Mopar Dodge Challenger Drag Paks during the 2010 season. Both drivers are scheduled for action next weekend at the NHRA Arizona Nationals at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix, Ariz.
